New York Times Best-selling Author & Illustrator
Loren Long is an accomplished author and illustrator. His picture book series featuring the lovable tractor, Otis, has produced several New York Times Best Sellers, including: Otis and the Tornado, Otis and the Puppy, An Otis Christmas and Otis and the Scarecrow.
Mr. Long is also the illustrator of several #1 New York Times bestselling books by notable famous authors, including: Of Thee I Sing, by President Barack Obama, and Mr. Peabody’s Apples, by Madonna. He also provided new illustrations for the iconic, The Little Engine That Could, by Watty Piper.
Mr. Long’s love of drawing started at a young age. As a child, one of Mr. Long’s favorite classes was art and his love of art continued through college at the University of Kentucky. After taking every art class at the university, he decided to become a professional illustrator. He then went on to The American Academy of Art in Chicago for further training. His career started out by illustrating greeting cards, and he then built a freelance illustration career that included high-profile clients like: Sports Illustrated, Time, Reader’s Digest and Forbes. He eventually started illustrating the covers of YA novels and, from there, an editor asked him to illustrate his first picture book, I Dream of Trains, written by Angela Johnson.
