Donna Gephart returns to Port Salerno Elementary School to kick off the third year of our Speaker Series!

Ms. Gephart’s novels for middle-graders combine both humor and heart.  Her newest book, Lily and Dunkin, is about a big-hearted, nature-loving transgender girl and a thirteen-year-old boy dealing with bipolar disorder who become friends.  The novel has already received the following recognition: a JLG Selection, a Southern Indie Bookseller Okra Pick, along with many excellent reviews, including a starred review from Booklist.  Her other novels are: Death by Toilet Paper, Olivia Bean Trivia Queen, How to Survive Middle School and As If Being 12-3/4 Isn’t Bad Enough, My Mother Is Running for President!, which won the Sid Fleischman Humor Award.

Ms. Gephart is a popular speaker at schools, conferences and book festivals around the country.  She is originally from Philadelphia, but now calls South Florida home with her family, including two sweet shelter dogs.
