Phil Bildner went to NYU School of Law, passed the Bar Exam in New York and New Jersey, landed a job as an associate at a Manhattan law firm and then realized that he didn’t want to be a lawyer. Because he had always loved working with kids, he went back to school to get a master’s degree in early childhood and elementary education and became a teacher!
Mr. Bildner then taught in New York city for many years. He creatively incorporated music, the arts and writing into his classrooms. He arranged for classroom visits from Blues Traveler, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, among other musicians, and he also worked with the Lincoln Center Institute, Broadway shows, Off-Broadway shows and other cultural institutions to build-out his curriculum. He was even featured on the CBS Show, Coast to Coast, for his unique teaching style. Then, Mr. Bildner started writing. In 2006, he left teaching to write full-time.
Mr. Bildner most often writes picture books, like: Shoeless Joe & Black Betsy, The Shot Heard ‘Round the World, The Greatest Game Ever Played, The Hallelujah Flight, and The Unforgettable Season. He has also written teen novels and a New York Times Best Selling middle grade chapter book series called, Sluggers, with co-author Loren Long.
This event is not open to the public.
