One of the best-selling authors in the world today
James Patterson is a prolific record-breaking and chart-topping author of both of adult and children’s literature. His books have sold over 275 million copies worldwide. Famous and beloved for his adult suspense/thriller novels, he has had many of his books turned into feature-length films, among them Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls, starring Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman as detective and FBI agent Alex Cross.
In recent years, Patterson has also made wonderful contributions to children’s literature. His Middle School series has created legions of young fans eagerly awaiting the next release. His Maximum Ride series has evolved from a series written for preteens and young adults to one that their parents enjoy as well.
But Patterson is not just a writer who loves to write. He is a champion of reading and fostering the love of reading in adults and children. From 2005-2007 he oversaw the James Patterson Pageturner Awards which rewarded individuals and groups for creatively and successfully spreading the joy of reading. He started the website ReadKiddoRead.com, which helps adults find books that their children are sure to relish. And he has donated hundreds of thousands of books to schools in the US and to military men and women serving overseas, along with many other impressive reading initiatives.
To further solidify his place in the hearts and minds of Americans, he has also made a guest appearance on The Simpsons.
