Savion Glover “Taps” into PSE Children’s Lives

The children at Port Salerno Elementary School had an amazing afternoon with Savion Glover!  In addition to being a legendary tap dancer, he also proved to be a masterful storyteller.  He told the second grade students about his journey from being a child taking dance lessons to being influenced by some of the world’s best tap dancers, including Gregory Hines, to becoming a professional dancer himself.

The students were in awe when he spoke of his experiences on Sesame Street, creating the choreography for Happy Feet and performing in movies.  He incorporated into his presentation tap steps that were highly entertaining, and he was funny, animated, inspiring.  Most importantly, he shared how passionate he is about tap, and let the students know that they should find something they are as passionate about and do that!

Thank you, Mr. Glover, for a wonderful visit!
