Port Salerno Reads Kicked-off by Sonia Manzano

It was such an honor to have Sonia Manzano help kick off our lastest initiative, Port Salerno Reads!  This new program grew out of our commitment to childhood literacy that began with our White House-Awarded program, Port Salerno Talks.

After patiently waiting in line, each of the Port Salerno Elementary first graders were delighted to receive their bag of books, handed to them by Ms. Manzano, to take home.  The titles included:  If You Take a Mouse to School, Curious George, and Amelia Bedelia.

The goal of Port Salerno Reads is to provide home libraries for all of the PSE students; our pilot project began with the distribution of books to all of the first grade students. We plan on providing home libraries to all of the second grade PSE students shortly after the new year.

Would you like to help us spread the joy of books?  We are always looking for donors!  If you or your organization would like to adopt a grade and underwrite the cost of home libraries for PSE students, please contact us.
