Our Visit With Wesley King, Writer-in-Residence

Ms. Aimee Morrell, 4th grade teacher at Port Salerno Elementary School, had this to say about the 4th and 5th graders’ work with Wesley King, our Writer-in-Residence:

We had AMAZING visits with Wesley King! The students absolutely loved having him in their classroom. One 5th grade student asked if he would be here all week, and when we told her he was only working with each class for 2 days she was visibly upset. The books that were donated to our classrooms by Eli’s House and also by Mr. King have been the “Hot Items” and have been passed around from student to student. 5th grade teacher Janine Spiess says, “The few students that won books from Mr. King have not put them down!”

Additionally, our 4th grade state writing test was yesterday (5th grade test is today) and Mr. Glassman, 4th grade teacher, reminded the students before the test that they should believe in themselves and that they all can be great writers.

All in all…..we had such a special time with Mr. King. We hope we will be able to host him again in the future!!

I think we can say this was a successful visit! Thank you, Mr. King!
