We seek to ensure that all children in the Port Salerno, FL community have access to books and resources, exposure to literacy and enrichment programs in school, as well as a quality, well-built home.
Eli’s House Programs
In partnership with Port Salerno Elementary School, we bring nationally-renowned authors and artists into the classroom to celebrate books and the arts with the children of the community. The program began in September 2014, and has featured speakers such as James Patterson, Elizabeth Alexander, Carl Hiaasen, and Anna Quindlen.
Eli’s House is in the process of building several homes in our community (with many more to come!) to support families who may need a short-term housing solution. Each home will feature high-quality, environmentally conscious materials built to last and energy-efficient appliances to keep future operating costs affordable. Our goal is to support families who may need this transitional housing while working towards securing a more permanent home.
Arts in Education
In collaboration with the historic Lyric Theatre in Stuart, Florida and Port Salerno Elementary School, we bring artists like Ailey II and Savion Glover into the classroom for inspiring performances and masterclasses. We also send the students to the Lyric Theatre to see Discovery Series performances. The goal of the program is to support and strengthen arts education for the children of our community.
Port Salerno Talks
Port Salerno Talks is a ground-breaking early childhood literacy initiative designed to engage families with young children, ages birth to 4 years old, with their local school. The program teaches parents how they can become the most powerful first teacher in their child’s education by simply talking to, and with, their child regularly and often. The innovative program utilizes LENA device technology and family coaches.
Parent Speakers –New!
Starting in the 2015-16 school year, we will be working with Port Salerno Elementary School to enhance their evening programming for PSE parents. Eli’s House will be providing dynamic speakers for school-sponsored parent events. The goal is to provide parents with valuable presentations and to strengthen the idea that the school is a vibrant part of the community, and not just for children.
