Sylvia Orozco

Sylvia Orozco is a distinguished artist and the co-Founder and Executive Director of Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, TX.  Ms. Orozco earned her B.F.A. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1978 and in 1983 she completed course work for an M.F.A. in Fine Arts from the Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City.

The Mexic-Arte Museum was founded in 1984.  According to their website:

Mexic-Arte Museum is dedicated to cultural enrichment and education through the collection, preservation and presentation of traditional and contemporary Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art and culture to promote dialogue and develop understanding for visitors of all ages.

In addition to holding exhibitions, Mexic-Arte Museum also provides educational programming for students.  Their Screen It! program serves children ages 10-17 and teaches them the art of screen printing and related arts.  Younger students may also participate in the program with the help of artist educators.  The museum also provides Family Days, tours and Teacher Workshops.
